Bible Focus Games

Sharing God’s Word in as many ways as we can and with as many people as we can…let’s do it!

Kids old enough to read Bible verses out loud up through senior citizens will enjoy playing the Bible Focus Games, and they are VERY SPECIAL GAMES to help bring kids and adults together in a setting where God’s Word is honored and the age gap is dissipated.

1. Introducing Game #1 – The Fruit of the Spirit

Galatians 5:22-23

But the fruit of the Spirit is

love, joy, peace,

longsuffering, gentleness, goodness,

faith, meekness, temperance (self-control):

against such there is no law.

Can Bible verses printed on 2″ x 3.5″ cards and all related to the nine components of the Fruit of he Spirit open up a new opportunity for believers

…to think more deeply on God’s Word;

…to learn more about living a fruitful Christian life;

…to laugh and experience fellowship with family and friends;

…to reach out to non-believers?

GOOD NEWS… Games 2 and 3 are new and very special, but The Fruit of the Spirit has been around for a while and the game has been well received by many different age groups. When it was taught to 6th-12th graders in a local Christian School, some unsolicited comments from  students were: “I really like this game; this game is awesome; this is the best game I have ever played.” Senior Citizens also experience a great time of fellowship playing the game together.

2. Introducing Game #2 – Psalms of Praise

The face of the cards display the following Psalms of Praise:

1.     “Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness” (Psalm 129:2).

2.     “O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker” (Psalm 95:6).

3.     “O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together” (Psalm 34:3).

4.     “It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High” (Psalm 19:1):

5.     “I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth” (Psalm 34:1).

6.     “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well” (Psalm 139:14).

7.     “Exalt ye the LORD our God, and worship at his footstool: for he is holy” (Psalm 99:5).

8.     “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God” (Psalm 20:7).

9.     “In God we boast all the day long, and praise thy name for ever” (Psalm 34:8).

10.  “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his handywork” (Psalm 19:1).

11.  “I will sing unto the LORD because he hath dealt bountifully with me” (Psalm 13:6).

3. Introducing Game #3 – The Ten Commandments (A must for every family with kids old enough to read the 10 Commandments out loud!)

THE TEN         No other gods

“Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets” (Matt. 22:37-40).

The face of the cards will display the following commandments:

1st Commandment – Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

2nd Commandment – Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image.

3rd Commandment – Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.

4th Commandment – Remember the Sabbath Day to keep it holy.

5th Commandment – Honor thy Father and thy Mother.

6th Commandment – Thou shalt not kill.

7th Commandment – Thou shalt not commit adultery.

8th Commandment: Thou shat not steal.

9th Commandment – Thou shalt not bear false witness.

10th Commandment – Thou shalt not covet.

The Great Commandments – …Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind…Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself (Matt. 22:37-40).

All three games pretty much follow the same order of play and have the same rules. They will be enjoyed by kids old enough to read Bible verses out loud, teens, and adults (including seniors). Players will experience competition, teamwork, the value of patience and alertness, reading Bible Verses out loud, growing in an understanding of the relationship between sowing and reaping, etc. The purpose of the games is not to test one’s knowledge of the Bible but to provide an opportunity for players to think (or meditate) on what the Bible says.

Once you get started playing the Bible Focus games with family and friends, it will become something you will look forward to on a regular basis. No two rounds will ever be the same, guaranteed; and when the game is over no one will ever say it was a boring game. The first team earning 500 points wins the game, but  everyone really wins for God said regarding his Word, …it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it (Isaiah 55:11).
